這個天上慈母的邀請和託付,促使鮑思高神父為創立一個與慈幼會同樣精神的女修會而立下決心。事實上,鮑思高神父為投入教育男青少年的服務,於1869年已獲羅馬教廷批准,在意大利都靈華道角創立了慈幼會。期間,有不少人請求他也為女孩子們做些善事,經過一番考慮和熱切的祈禱,並獲得同會兄弟的一致贊同和教宗庇護第九世的支持,鮑思高神父決定將創立一個女修會教育貧苦女青少年的計劃付諸實行。
同樣地,居住在意大利摩爾尼斯村莊的瑪利亞瑪沙利羅,於1860年的一天,當她途中經過高崗時,突然看到前面出現了一座宏偉的建築物和一群正在嬉戲的女青年。她聽到一個來自天上的聲音說:"我把她們交託給妳"。這個託付就成為她教育貧苦無依的女青少年的教育使命。
聖鮑思高神父得到教宗庇護九世的准許,於1872年創立一個以女青少年為服務對象的女修會—母佑會,成為他對聖母感恩的"活紀念碑"。
